WHAT IS BOWEN?
The Bowen technique is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy. A treatment consists of a series of small moves done with gentle pressure at precise locations and in a specific order.
WHAT DOES BOWEN DO?
The Bowen technique produces rapid and lasting relief from pain and discomfort. The Bowen technique empowers the body to heal itself. It is as though the information given to the body by the Bowen moves accesses the genetic blueprint and stimulates the body to return the injured area to health to the maximum possible.
WHAT TYPES OF PAIN AND DISCOMFORT RESPOND?
Muscle pain, joint pain, pain from muscle tension, and pain from injury all respond well to the Bowen technique, as well as respiratory problems and digestive problems.
It is excellent for recovery from car accidents and for sports injuries.
BOWEN FOR UNEXPLAINED INFERTILITY
Bowen has been very successful treating infertility in cases where there are no known physical defects of the reproductive organs. Both partners are treated.
HOW SAFE IS BOWEN?
The Bowen technique is very safe and is an ideal therapy for infants and the aged.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Most conditions respond in 2 to 5 treatments, including most chronic complaints.
HOW FREQUENT ARE BOWEN TREATMENTS?
For maximum benefit, Bowen treatments are given once a week.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A BOWEN TREATMENT.
Patients enjoy Bowen treatments and find them very relaxing. One hour is booked for the appointment, the actual treatment taking 20-40 minutes.
HISTORY
Mr. Tom Bowen developed this comprehensive therapy in Geelong Australia during the 1950’s and 1960’s. In 1974 he invited Ossie and Elaine Rentsch to study with him, asking them to document his technique.
The Rentsch’s worked with Tom Bowen for 2 years and then attended their own busy practice for 10 years. In 1987 they founded the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia and started teaching the technique. The Academy is dedicated to preserving the technique and ensuring that it is taught in its original form.
FRANCES TUTT ND
